The Winton Wetlands in North East Victoria is a vast 8750 hectare landscape that homes a large variety of flora and fauna including many species of birds and animals.

The Wetlands are 15 minutes away from Benella and can be found off the Hume Highway at the corner of Winton North and Boggy Bridge Roads. They are part of a renewal project with environmental, social, cultural and economic significance and ambition.

In 2016 as part of the Wall to Wall street art festival in Benalla, Guido van Helten was commissioned to paint a water tank right in the middle of the wetlands.

The water tank portrays magnificent portraits of three local Country Fire Authority (CFA) volunteers. Unlike the scale of silo art, the water tank art is close to the ground and smaller yet signifies the detail and expression the artist is known for.

In the summer you won’t be short of dust and flies, when you visit and in the winter you'll be able to recognise it's swampy wetland look from Lake Mokoan. It truly is a magnificent and easy location to visit as part of the Australian Silo Art Trail.

Additional Parking Information

This water tank is located on the corner of Winton North and Boggy Bridge Road. Just past the entrance to Boggy Bridge road behind the painted fish trees, the road deteriorates for 10 metres or so and then is good again. For this reason I would suggest leaving your caravan behind in a park.
