This spectacular artwork has been dedicated to, two amazing trainers and drivers of harness racing.

Harness racing is mourning the loss of legends Graeme Lang having died at age 87 in 2020, and Ian 'Macca' McCallum who passed away in June 2013.

Vale Graeme Lang

Graeme Lang was a Wimmera-born son of a farmer and hobby trainer, a complete horseman. Graeme Lang went on to become a five-time leading Victorian state trainer and two-time leading Victorian state driver. He was crowned the leading Australian driver in 1979/80 and secured a swag of major awards in the sport through the late 1960s, 70s and 80s.

Graeme Lang built an enormous legacy which would see him become the 2013 Gordon Rothacker Medallist. In 1998 Graeme was inducted into the Caduceus Club’s Hall of Fame. Graeme was one of the game’s elite riders from the late ‘sixties through to the ‘eighties and will be remembered for training square gaiter Scotch Notch. Graham was a trotting champion and a three-time Australian trotter of the year, he shared his harness racing career with the world when he went on a tour in North America in 1985, he then went on to win eighteen races out of 60 starts. Mr Lang's career continued even further when he became the Victorian leading trainer, he was crowned Victoria's leading driver and in 1979-80 he was the leading Australian Driver.

Ian 'Macca' McCallum

Known by most as 'Macca', Ian Macca' McCallum had a long association with the Mildura Trotting Club dating back to the 1960's winning as a driver 240 times. Ian won the leading trainer award at Mildura six times, his most recent being in the 1991/92 season. He also won the leading driver award at Mildura on nine occasions, the most recent being the 1998/9 season what an amazing achievement.

In April 2008 Ian Macca McCallum won the Homevale Stud Trotters Cup while riding his trotter Beleva on the second night at the Mildura Carnival. It was a special win for Macca a fantastic victory a very emotional one as it was the best race seen at the Mildura Club with people clapping until the horses were on the track for the next race. Bill and Margaret Hanson who had sponsored the race and were also part of the Homesvale Stud fame presented the trophy to Ian. Tt was a great win by the famous horse Beleva.

Just a few of days later Ian suffered horrific injuries in a race accident. His outstanding win on Beleva sadly became his last race. Ian Macca McCallum was a hero and a professional in both worlds on and off the track.
