Wagga Wagga Water Tank Art - New South Wales

Artist: Poncho Amy

Location: Willans Hill, Turvey Park, off Captain Cook Drive, Wagga Wagga, NSW

Overlooking the city of Wagga Wagga in New South Wales stands the Willans Hill water reservoir, which is located off Captain Cook Drive, Willans Hill.

The water tank art was spray painted over two and a half weeks in June 2016 by Trina Collins, aka Poncho Army. The mural is all about water, but more specifically the actual use and function of the water tank and to represent that Riverina Water is safe water to use unfiltered. The children depicted in the mural are Sturt Public School students.

The water tower is on quite a steep hill, so steep that the author would recommend if you are travelling with a caravan to leave it down the bottom somewhere and drive up without it. Or better still, check into a caravan park and stay to see some of the other wonderful attractions around Wagga Wagga.

The town is also alive with street art, more of which can be seen by following this link, thus making an overnight stop probably a must to be able to view and visit them all.

In August 2016 apparently, the mural was partially destroyed by graffiti vandals and had to be repaired.
No major vandalism is evident on the front of the water tank as you can see by my photos. There is still some graffiti behind the tank, but thankfully it does not mar the overall mural too much.
