The Swansea Water Tank Art was painted by Artist Jarad Danby.

The Swansea Water Tank Art was commissioned by the May Shaw Health and Aged Care Centre. It is located in the empty block right next door with the art available for all to see. Many residents of the center have delighted in having the mural next door, especially those that are able to stroll outside to sit and gaze upon it.

Featured on the tank are a snake and a fish. Did you know that Tasmania has only three species of land snakes? The one featured on this tank appears to be a Lowland Copperhead, the other two being the Tiger Snake and the White-Lipped Snake. If snakes get too hot they will die. Both Tiger Snakes and Lowland Copperheads can be active on warm nights, so be aware, and use a torch if walking about at night. On mainland Australia most snake species are at least partially nocturnal, and many are only active at night.
