Rainbow's Llew Schilling Silo Tourism Development Initiative

Artist James Voller, Creative Director of Collide Public Art Initiative was awarded Rainbow's Llew Schilling Silo project following a highly competitive national expression of interest process that drew submissions from across Australia, with the project commencing in 2025.

James and his team are known for delivering innovative public art across the country, but the Rainbow project presents something entirely new with the inclusion of art inside one of the silo bins—an Australian first for the Silo Art movement.

The exterior of the silo features a large-scale mural on the northern face of the silo, whilst the interior features internal artworks.

To give visitors the chance to experience the internal artworks, two viewing platforms were installed inside the silo bins at heights of around 5m and 20m. These connect to a  25m exterior tower and viewing platform next to the silo. Designed with accessibility in mind, the tower features a stairway wrapped around an elevator, ensuring everyone can enjoy both the internal artworks and sweeping views from the top.

Interior Artwork

Inside, the silos feature images printed on suspended Digiglass panels. When illuminated, these panels transform the interior of the western silo bin into a striking, immersive art experience unlike anything seen before in Australia’s Silo Art Trail.
