Gnowangerup Water Tank Art - Western Australia

One of the tanks at the Lucinda location honours the contributions of women to rural life. It features local paramedics, firefighters as well as local farmers and stalwarts on two large water tanks.

The 'Lucinda Tanks" feature women who are all local and who showcase the diversity of ages and contributions that rural women make. 

Cass Chambers: our local agronomist, working in a male-dominated field. She is valuable to the industry here. 

 Wendy Gordon: 3rd generation local and a 'community volunteer stalwart!" Wendy has done so many volunteer roles from local sporting positions to running our local caravan park, to working at our school for 31 years. 

 Heidi Sounness: a local farmer and in the Borden volunteer Bushfire Brigade. Blair Hinkley: fondly known as "the chook lady", we have all enjoyed her produce over the years. 

Chantelle Wise and Shelby Garnett: both 5th and 6th generation farmers, taking custodianship of family farming enterprises. 

 Caroline Miniter: Proud Goreng girl, and local sportswoman. Caroline has represented our whole region in netball. 

 Betty Brown represents one of the many women in our area who volunteer for the St John Ambulance. 

Dale Parnell is also born and bred--and has spent a great deal of time in the Shearing Shed! 

 "Lucinda" is named for the supplier of the everlastings flowers along our highway and right across the Great Southern: Lucinda's Everlastings. 

This site is very important to our local security. The tanks hold an emergency water supply used to combat the many bushfires that ravage our communities during summer and as an emergency water supply for animal husbandry. The latest, most devastating event was the Stirling Range fires of Jan 2019-20. 

 As you approach the ranges you will see the amazing regrowth that has occurred in such a short space of time. The Lucinda Project was made possible by funding from our local women, Healthways--Act, Belong, Commit, The Shire of Gnowangerup & GNP360.
