Cooneana Water Tank Art - Queensland

Artist: Peter Parsons

Location: 1041 Red Bank Plains Rd, New Chum, Ipswich, Queensland

Photos by: Marion Smith

There are two painted water tanks at this location, both were painted by peter Parsons in May 2003. They are a little tired now and are in need of a touch-up.

The artwork was sponsored by an Ipswich Regional Arts Development Fund and the tanks were originally near Blackstone School on the opposite side of the highway.

The small tank depicts early aboriginal life around the area and the large tank depicts early settler life and scenes around Ipswich.

Located in the grounds of the Cooneana Ipswich Heritage Centre.

The tank would only be accessible for viewing during their opening hours as the property is surrounded by a 2 metre corrugated iron fence. Currently this is Thursday & Saturday and the second & fourth Sundays of the month between 10am and 2pm.

The location is also not suitable for caravan parking inside the grounds of the Heritage Centre. There is NO roadside parking outside as well for any vehicles. We suggest leaving your caravan behind.
