The newly completed water tank art in Coomealla, NSW, has transformed vital infrastructure into a powerful symbol of community and culture. Local Maura/Barkandji artist John Mitchell has added a vibrant cultural and artistic layer to Namatjira’s upgraded raw water supply system, with his design inspiring the striking murals now featured on the two new water tanks.

Brought to life by Zest Events International Creative, the mural beautifully captures Indigenous life along the Murray River, infusing the site with a strong sense of identity and local pride.

This artistic transformation accompanies the successful completion of a $3 million infrastructure upgrade, which now provides the community with a more reliable and sustainable water source—especially for essential outdoor uses such as irrigation and gardening.
