The Cloncurry water tank sits proudly atop a hill overlooking the township of Cloncurry and the Cloncurry River. This very remote Australian water tank is located on Chinaman Creek Dam Road and can be clearly seen from the Barkly Highway as you enter the township from the west.

Zookeeper completed the artwork in October of 2018.

The 360 degree mural features on one side an Indigenous lad by the name of Barrack. According to Joel Fergie's Instagram account 'He is a legend of a kid from Cloncurry and is a proud boy of the Mitakoodi Community'. Joel was inspired to paint Barrack during Naidoc week. It is here he saw Barrack dance for his school with some other children in a group called the "Deadly Dancers".

The other side features Brianna. Along with Barrack, she is also a "Deadly Dancer". Brianna is symbolised throwing a paper plane across the landscape, portraying Cloncurry as the birthplace of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Did you know that Cloncurry was the birthplace of the Royal Flying Doctor Service? It was founded by Reverend John Flynn in 1928 when he formed the Australian Inland Mission Aerial Medical Service which was a one year experiment that was based in Cloncurry. This experiment later became The Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Access to this water tank is via a steep hill.  Although the car park at the top is small, turnaround is achievable with a caravan, bus or motor-home if the car park is reasonable empty.

The only facility here is a picnic table where you can sit and enjoy the wonderful view of Cloncurry.
