Wentworth Falls Water Tank Art - New South Wales

Location: Great Western H'way, Bodington Hill, NSW

Proudly owned by: Sydney Water

Working in conjunction with Street Art Murals Australia and Sydney Water, Janne Birkner and Scott Nagy painted the water tank at the entrance to the village of Wentworth Falls.

Completed in January 2016, the tank stands 10 metres high and at the time was the largest mural the pair had ever done. The duo of Janne Birkner and Scott Nagy have gone on to complete other great works of art since including the Water Tower at Lockhart in 2018.

The stunning lyrebird which looks down onto the thousands of daily commuters on the Great Western Highway was a way for the artists to monumentalise local flora and fauna but to put their own artistic spin on it.

The water tank is one of a group of four artworks by the pair that have been commissioned by Sydney Water and Blue Mountains Council for 2016. They finished this one on John Street after three big days in 30 degree heat up a 12 metre crane - sanding and spraying and using 50 spray cans and 40 litres of paint.

Best accessed via Tableland Road, then John Street.
