The Hughenden Alyss Street Water Tower was completed in just 5 days in late June 2021.

Two of Hughenden's water tanks have now received a new make over thanks to funding gained by Flinders Shire Council. The Council received the funding from the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network and Queensland Health's TRAIC (Tackling Regional Adversity through Integrated Care) program.

Artists The Zookeeper and DRAPL were commissioned to paint the murals and began the work in June 2021.

This mural depicts a small boy at play with his toy dinosaur. Did you know that dinosaurs have been found near Hughenden?

In Hughenden you can meet 'Hughie' a skeletal Muttaburrasaurus at The Flinders Discovery Centre. Travel north from Hughenden to Porcupine Gorge National Park to see 500 million years of layers of rock formations in this deep gorge system, known as Australia's 'Little Grand Canyon'.
